Tennessee men's tennis player Derek Stephens is one win away from moving on to the qualifying draw, after advancing to the third round of the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., Saturday.

The Vols got off to a good start in the first round with all three squad members winning in straight-sets. Stephens defeated Andrew Ulrich of TCU 6-4, 6-3. Stephens has now won six matches in a row. The Big Orange sophomore received a bye through the second round and faces Jay Weinacker of North Carolina State, Sunday at 11 a.m., the winner advances to the qualifying stage.

Kiril Tcherveniachki was able to avenge an earlier loss this season, when he won his first round match over Florida State's Chris Cloer 6-2, 6-4. The UT senior had lost to Cloer in the Round of 16 at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships. In the second round, Tcherveniachki dropped a tough three-set match to Kriegler Brink of TCU. Tcherveniachki won the first set but Brink won the next two to advance. Tcherveniachki is 6-3 this season and now waits for the doubles portion to start where he will partner with Davey Sandgren.

Chris Racz defeated Tulsa's Olof Sjolund 6-3, 6-1 to win the fourth match of his young career. The Vol freshman dropped his second round match to Peter Zimmer of Arizona 6-7, 6-4, 7-5. Racz teams up with Stephens in the doubles draw, which is scheduled to begin Oct. 3.
