TULSA, Okla. -- Three Vols start singles qualifying Monday at the ITA All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Sophomore Brandon Fickey, junior Jarryd Chaplin and senior John Collins will be playing for three of eight spots in the All-American main draw, college tennis' first individual national tournament of the year.
Chaplin takes the court first against Yale's John Huang at 10 a.m. Eastern. Fickey plays TCU's JT Sundling at 11 a.m. and Collins faces UCLA's Dennis Mkrtchian at 5:30 p.m.
Chaplin and Fickey are off to 2-1 records this season after reaching the third round of the Baylor HEB Intercollegiate. Collins, a transfer from Maryland, is 1-1.
Senior Edward Jones was unable to join his teammates in qualifying. He lost 6-2, 6-1 to Mississippi State's Romain Bogaerts 6-2, 6-1.
