TULSA, Okla. -- Sophomore Hunter Reese's singles and doubles run ended Saturday in the consolation semifinals at the ITA All-American Championships.
Reese opened the day with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 victory over Texas' Daniel Whitehead in the consolation quarterfinals, but he lost his next match 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 to Jonas Lutjen of Mississippi State.
In doubles, Reese and senior John Collins fought off two match points but could not force a third set in the doubles semifinals, falling 6-3, 7-6 (7) to Columbia's Ashok Narayana and Max Schnur.
Despite first-round losses in both singles and doubles, Reese has put together a solid performance at the All-American. He has a team-leading 8-3 record in singles with four victories coming against ranked opponents, including two in the top 50. His loss in the main draw came against top-ranked Henrique Cunha of Duke.
The Vols are back in action on Oct. 12 when they host the second-annual Tennessee Fall Invitational. Last year, Tennessee won two singles and two doubles titles at the home tournament.
Admission for the Tennessee Fall Invitational is free with matches being played on campus at Barksdale Stadium and at nearby Tyson Park.
