Ockie Oosthuizen and Ben Rogers beat a ranked opponent for the seventh time this season Thursday while advancing to the round of 16 at the Icy Hot/ITA Men's All-American Championships.

Oosthuizen and Rogers faced Oregon's Arron Spencer and Sven Swinnen in their first match of the main draw and defeated the Oregon duo 8-2. The Ducks were ranked No. 9 in the preseason poll. The Vols pair advances to the round of 16 where another ranked opponent awaits them.

"To beat a top-10 team 8-2 shows how well Ockie and Ben are playing," UT head coach Michael Fancutt said. "However to win this tournament they will have to keep improving match by match."

The UT sophomores are one of only five teams in the main draw that are not ranked in the ITA preseason poll. Seventeen of the top-20 teams are present in the tournament. The victory over the Oregon pair marks the fifth victory this season for Oosthuizen and Rogers over a top-20 opponent. The Vols duo has defeated three ranked teams in the All-Americans and are now 7-0 on the season against ranked foes.

David Baxendine, Matt Berry, and Kiril Tcherveniachki travel to Atlanta, Ga. Friday to compete in the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. All three Vols will enter individual competition and the Vols coaches also hope to put together a doubles team. The tournament is slated to begin Friday morning at 8 a.m. and runs through Sunday.
