The Tennessee men's tennis team begins the season ranked No. 41 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association team rankings, which were released Tuesday.
Junior Bobby Cameron is ranked No. 24 in the first singles poll of the year. The Lenoir City native had a fantastic fall finishing with a 13-3 record with five wins coming over ranked opponents. Fellow junior Kaden Hensel is ranked 35th in the preseason poll. Hensel won the Division II singles championship at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in September. The Australia native finished the fall with a 12-3 record and four wins over ranked opponents.
Cameron and Hensel are ranked fifth in doubles. The doubles ranking is a career-high for both Vols. The UT juniors went 13-6 in the fall with six victories over ranked opponents. Adam Hubble and Ben Rogers began the spring season ranked 34th in doubles after going 7-4 in the fall. Cameron and Hubble are ranked 17th in the doubles poll despite playing only two matches together. In one of their matches together the UT duo defeated Middle Tennessee's Andreas Siljestrom and Marco Born who were ranked 3rd in doubles at the time.
Tennessee's schedule includes four teams ranked in the top-six of the preseason poll. The Vols face top-ranked Georgia, No. 3 Ohio State, No. 5 Illinois and No. 6 Ole Miss this season. Ohio State travels to Knoxville Feb. 9 for a match while SEC West power Ole Miss faces UT in Knoxville on April 6.
The Vols open the 2007 season Jan. 19 when they travel to New Orleans, La., to participate in the SEC Men's Coaches' Indoor Championships.
