ITA KICK-OFF WEEKEND
The 19th-ranked Vols (7-0) are looking to qualify for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships for the fifth consecutive season. To do so, they must win both their matches this weekend at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. They play No. 16 Illinois on Friday and No. 18 North Carolina or No. 24 Tulsa on Saturday.
Tennessee, Tulsa and North Carolina chose to travel to the Illinois region of the tournament in a draft last summer. All four teams are in the top 25, making this perhaps the most competitive region.
This is the first of two straight weekends the Vols will be playing Illinois. They face the Illini in a regularly-scheduled non-conference match next Friday. Illinois is hosting the NCAA Championships for the first time in May, so Tennessee could be visiting Champaign, Ill., three times in 2013.
