VOLS HOST DUKE BEFORE NATIONAL INDOORS
The Vols are looking to bounce back from a 4-1 home loss last weekend to Illinois. Duke has already beaten Illinois 7-0 and has opened the year on a 6-match winning streak.
Tennessee and Duke faced twice during the indoor season in 2011. Tennessee shut out Duke on the road 7-0, but four of the matches went three sets. The teams faced again in the ITA National Indoors semifinals, where Tennessee won 4-2 despite losses by John-Patrick Smith and Rhyne Williams, in addition to Tennys Sandgren being out of the lineup with illness. Edward Jones clinched the match on court 5.
The Vols have won the doubles point in all six matches this season. Tennessee won the point in 24 of 29 matches in 2011.
Sunday's match is Tennessee's final event before traveling to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships next week in Charlottesville, Va. The week after that, the Vols head to the Blue-Gray Championships in Montgomery, Ala.
