Four Tennessee student-athletes were selected to compete in the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships next week in Albuquerque, N.M.
The UT women's team has three representatives: freshman Felecia Majors (200m, 400m), sophomore Felicia Brown (200m) and sophomore Alexis Panisse (800m). Cameron Brown will represent the men's squad in the weight throw.
The NCAA Championships will take place March 13-14 at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Majors is wrapping up a strong start to her first track and field season. The multi-talented freshman placed fifth in both the 200 meters (23.21) and 400 meters (52.65) at the SEC championships last weekend. Her times rank seventh in the 200 and 13th in the 400 in the country this season.
Felicia Brown will join Majors in the field of the 200. She ran a career-best 23.54 at the Tyson Invitational earlier this spring, the 15th-best time in the country. Next week will be her first career appearance at the NCAA meet.
Panisse will make her NCAA debut as well. She reached the finals in two individual events at SECs, placing fifth in the 800 (2:05.38) and eighth in the mile (4:45.99). It was the first time she had scored individually at the SEC track and field meets. At NCAAs, her 800 time ranks 12th.
Cameron Brown, coming off a bronze-medal performance at the SEC meet, has been one of the Vols' leaders this year among the throwers. His best performance this year came at the Cupid Classic in Birmingham, Ala., where his throw cleared a distance of 69 feet, 6.25 inches (21.19 meters).
The NCAA selected 16 student-athletes for each individual event, and 12 teams were chosen for each relay.
