Four players will make their collegiate debuts Friday as the Tennessee Volunteers open the individual tennis season at home with the Tennessee Fall Invitational.
The tournament runs Friday through Sunday and features three singles and five doubles draws.
Action the first two days begins at 8 a.m. at Tennessee's Barksdale Stadium and the courts at Knoxville-owned Tyson Park, located near campus. Sunday's finals will be played at Barksdale Stadium.
The Vols' four freshmen - Brandon Fickey, Mikelis Libietis, Peter Nagovnak and Hunter Reese - will play their first collegiate matches. In addition, the team's five returning players are also participating: junior two-year starter Edward Jones, senior Bryan Swartz, junior Taylor Patrick and sophomores Jarryd Chaplin and Colton Norton.
Libietis was ranked eighth nationally in the preseason ITA Newcomer/Freshman Poll.
In addition to Tennessee, 10 other schools are participating in the event: East Tennessee State, Lipscomb, Wake Forest, Winthrop, Eastern Kentucky, Xavier, Chattanooga, Davidson, Tennessee Tech and Wright State.
