The Tennessee men's tennis team returns to action this weekend when they play in two different tournaments in the state of Tennessee. Six members of the team will play in the 20th Annual Middle Tennessee Fall Invitational at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn., and two squad members will play in UTC's Steve Baras Fall Classic at the Champions Club in Hixson, Tenn.

"We are looking forward to a long weekend of tennis at both tournaments," head coach Chris Mahony said. "The guys are well rested after having last weekend off and our goal is to continue the momentum we built at the Southern Intercollegiates in Athens, Ga., two weekends ago."

Kaden Hensel has opened up his junior campaign by winning his first five matches en route to the Division II Singles Championship at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships. Fellow junior Bobby Cameron, ranked 95th in the preseason ITA singles poll, also is in Flight A1 singles.

Redshirt freshman Davey Sandgren, ranked 116th, and senior Ben Rogers are in Flight A2. Rogers and Sandgren both won their first round matches at the Southern Intercollegiates before falling to ranked opponents in the second round.

Freshman Chris Racz and senior Kiril Tcherveniachki are in singles Flight A3. Tcherveniachki advanced to the third round in Division II at the SIC. Racz dropped his first round match but won both of his consolation matches.

Tennessee has three doubles teams entered in the tournament. Juniors Cameron and Hensel and Racz and Rogers will play in Flight 1 doubles. Sandgren and Tcherveniachki will play in Flight 2.

Sophomore Derek Stephens and senior Johnny Thornton will play at the Steve Baras Fall Classic. Stephens and Thornton both started their seasons off well with good showings at the SIC. Stephens advanced to the third round of Division II singles while Thornton also advanced to the third round in Division III singles.

Sophomore Adam Hubble will not compete this weekend after suffering an ankle injury. Hubble advanced to the championship match of the SIC where he lost to his teammate Hensel.
