Tennessee junior Matteo Fago and freshman Rhyne Williams are seeded in the first flight of singles at this weekend's Georgia Tech Fall Tournament in Atlanta.
Freshman Edward Jones and redshirt freshman Max Stevens are competing in the first flight as well. Sophomore Bryan Swartz and redshirt freshman Taylor Patrick are in the second flight. First-round matches begin Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
Fago, ranked No. 114 by ITA, is seeded second in Atlanta and faces Georgia's Will Reynolds in the opening round. He competed last week at the Baylor HEB Intercollegiate Invitational, winning his first match but losing the second in three sets.
Williams enters the tournament seeded for the first time in his career, coming in at No. 5. He reached the finals of his bracket at the UVa Plus One Invitational last week and has defeated four of five ranked opponents this year. He faces Rafael Array of Armstrong Atlantic State.
Jones and Stevens each drew seeded and nationally ranked opponents in the first round. Jones plays No. 1-seeded Carlos Alvarez of Clemson, who is ranked No. 80. Stevens goes against No. 3-seeded Romain Bocaert of South Alabama, ranked No. 121.
In the second flight, Patrick plays North Carolina-Wilmington's Ando Max Hirsh. Swartz plays William Adeimy of Georgia State.
The Vols also have three doubles pairs competing. Fago and Williams are competing together for the first time and are seeded second. They play Georgia's Will Oliver and Will Reynolds in the first round.
Stevens and Swartz also drew a pair from Georgia: No. 1-seeded Borja Malo and Christian Vitulli. Jones and Patrick face another squad from Georgia in Drake Bernstein and Alex Hill.
