ORLANDO, Fla. -- Four Vols are in the 64-player field at the USTA Collegiate Clay Court Invitational at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Singles and doubles matches begin Thursday, with early-round matches also being played at the Grand Cyprus Tennis and Racquet Club.
Sophomore Brandon Fickey and senior Jarryd Chaplin headline the Vols' weekend participants. Fickey is back in action after missing the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships with an injury. Chaplin, meanwhile, is coming off his best career singles performance in a fall tournament, having made the quarterfinals of regionals.
Both Vols are listed as alphabetical 9-16 seeds in the field.
Fickey and Chaplin are also playing together in doubles as the No. 3-4 seeds. They were regulars at No. 2 and 3 in the Vols' lineup last year and are teaming up for the first time since the spring season.
For most of the Vols, this weekend marks the final stop of the fall season. Juniors Mikelis Libietis and Hunter Reese will play in the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in New York in two weeks.
