Field Set at USTA/ITA National Indoors

Oct. 30, 2013

Juniors Mikelis Libietis and Hunter Reese are only a week away from heading back to New York City for the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships.

The ITA released its official entry lists for the tournament Wednesday for the prestigious indoor tournament, the second individual national championship on the college tennis calendar.

Libietis, ranked No. 1 nationally in singles, received an at-large bid for the 32-player singles tournament. Reese already qualified for singles earlier this month by winning the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships.

Libietis and Reese, the nation's top-ranked team, are also scheduled to play doubles.

National Indoors runs Nov. 7-10.

Reese has put together his busiest fall season, avoiding the injuries that have slowed him down in previous years. He has put together a team-leading 10-4 record and is on a six-match winning streak heading into New York. It will be his first appearance at the National Indoors.

Libietis opened the year playing Davis Cup for Latvia and is 6-2 in singles this fall. Last year he reached the quarterfinals of National Indoors.

As a doubles team, Libietis and Reese backed up their No. 1 ranking a month ago by winning the ITA All-American Championships, their first national title together. They are 8-1 this fall.
