Offered up his 5,000m run lifetime best of 14:37.19 with a 16th-place finish
in the open section at the Penn Relays (April 25) ... Ran his career-best 1,500m
run time of 3:56.31 en route to a fifth-place finish at USC’s Trojan Classic
(March 17), on the same day as a seventh-place, 8:41.54 timing in the 3,000m
run ... Ran the third leg on Tennessee’s third-place 4x1,500m relay team,
15:59.00, at the Sea Ray Relays on the home track ... Also nabbed seventh with
a 14:43.10 time in the 5,000m run at Sea Rays ... Helped defend the Vols’
32-year home winning streak with a fourth-place, 3:57.31 effort in the 1,500m
run at the Gatorade Classic ... Crossed the line eighth in 15:02.74 in the 5,000m
run to assist the Vols to the win in the Cal Invitational ... Finished 11th
with a 15:11.84 time in the 5,000m run and 21st with a 3:59.03 time in the 1,500m
run prelims at the SEC Outdoors.
Cross Country 2001- Redshirted.
2002-Indoor- Registered his career-best 3,000m run clocking
of 8:25.31 to garner ninth at the SEC Indoors (Feb. 23) ... Ran an 8:27.03 to
take fifth in the ‘B’ section of the 3,000m run at the Armory Invitational
... Got on the scoreboard to help secure the Tennessee win at the SEC Eastern
Division Challenge with a fifth-place, 8:36.54, 3.000m run effort ... Crossed
the finish line in 4:20.32 to take eighth in the mile run at Virginia Tech’s
Kroger Invitational (Jan. 19) ... Clocked in at 4:21.80 to earn 12th in the
mile run at the Kentucky Invitational.
2001-Outdoor- Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll...Member of UT's
Student Athlete Advisory Committee and president of UT chapter of Fellowship
of Christian Athletes...Missed most of the outdoor season because of injury.
Indoor- Season came to early end because of injury...Bell split time
between the mile and 3,000M run during the indoor campaign...Clocked in at a
season-best 4:23.79 to take ninth in the mile at the New Year's Invitational
at Virginia Tech...Contributed points to Tennessee's winning cause at the
SEC Quad in Lexington, Ky., with his 3,000M run win in a season-best 8:43.18...Broke
the tape in 4:31.36 in the open section of the mile run at the ETSU Invitational.
2000-Outdoor- Bell was limited by injury in both the indoor and outdoor
seasons...Clocked a 15:22.26 finish in the 5,000M run at the Florida Relays
(March 24).
Indoor- Notched the third-fastest Vol 3,000M run time of the indoor season
with his career-best 8:43.10 effort at the Kroger Invitational (Feb. 12)...Ran
the mile in 4:25.60 at the Sprint Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn. (Jan.
29)... Took seventh in the 3000M run at the SEC Quad with a time of 8:48.64.
1999- Redshirted.
Cross Country 2002-Co-captain of squad with Scott DeFilippis ... Won the Captain’s Award and Vega-Watts Volunteer Award ... Ran in the final five meets and scored in the last four meets for the Vols ... Finished second among the Vols, 137th overall, with a 31:28.1 finish at the 10K NCAA Championships ... Enjoyed his highest finish and best time of the season with a sixth-place (third among Vols), 25:54.8 run at the 8K Furman Invitational ... Helped write the Vols’ ticket to the NCAA Championships with a 13th-place (fourth among Vols), 32:54.45 finish to garner All-Region honors at the 10K NCAA South Regionals ... Ran to 31st, fifth among Vols, with a 26:34.30 time at the 8K SEC Championships.
Cross Country 2000- Co-captain of squad with Scott DeFilippis...Led the
Vols in three races (Tenn. Intercollegiate, Greensboro Invitational and the
Wolverine Interregional Invitational)...Posted the best Vol time at the 5K Tennessee
Intercollegiate (15:19) to place second, the best finish for a Vol all season,
and earn SEC Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors...Clocked his best 8K
finish (25:43, seventh place) at the Greensboro Invitational...Finished 13th
in
26:19.30 at the UT Invitational...Crossed the finish line in 26:39.32 in 25th
place at the SEC Championships...Took 27th in 26:03 at the Wolverine Interregional
Invitational...Closed out the season with a 49th-place, 33:04.57 effort at the
10K NCAA South Regionals.
Cross Country 1999- Ran to 20th in 25:59.4 at the SEC Championships...Raced
to 23rd at the Furman Invitational with a clocking of 26:08...Posted a 46th-place,
26:05.1 effort at the Sam Bell Invitational in Bloomington, Ind. ...Took 65th
at the 10K NCAA South Regionals in 32:06.11.
BEFORE TENNESSEE- Joined the Tennessee track squad after competing at
Florida in 1998...Stood as the top freshman in the 1998 SEC Cross Country Championships
with his 18th-place finish.
HIGH SCHOOL- Attended high school at nearby Farragut...Was the Tennessee
high school mile state champion and runner-up in the two-mile run in 1998...Runner-up
at the state cross country meet in 1996...Earned two All-State, three All-Region
and three All-Conference honors in his high school cross country career...In
high school track, garnered All-State status three times, All-Region honors
four times and All-KIL nods three times...Member of the state champion Farragut
High track squad in 1998...Named Knoxville's Distance Runner of the Year
in 1998 and Knoxville's Male Athlete of the Year in 1997.
