with 6,414 points after a no-height in the pole vault at the Sea Ray Relays
decathlon .. Tied for the win in the high jump with a 6-8 clearance in the high
jump at the Knoxville Invitational ... Clocked a 14.40 to take sixth in the
110m hurdles and leapt 6-9 to earn fifth in the high jump to help Tennessee
defend its 32-year home winning streak at the Gatorade Classic ... Finished
fourth in the 400m dash in a lifetime-best 48.09 and third in the long jump
with a 23-3 1/4 mark to help the Vols to the Cal Invitational title (March 23)
... Offered up his lifetime-best mark in the javelin, 192-7, to take third at
USC’s Trojan Classic. 2001-Outdoor- Named Most
Valuable Field Athlete at track banquet...After just two years donning the orange
and white, Harris is well on his way to becoming one of Tennessee's greatest
decathletes because of his work ethic, consistent improvement and ability to
produce at championship events...Harris tallied a 7,871w to earn runner-up honors
at the NCAA Outdoors (May 31) for his second All-America certificate in as many
years...Harris finished just 18 points behind champion Santiago Lorenzo, a difference
of about 2.5 seconds in the concluding 1,500M run...Harris' eight points,
the second-highest contribution among the Vols, proved vital to Tennessee's
effort as the Vols walked away NCAA champions by one point...Peaked at the NCAAs
with first and second day PRs plus notching decathlon PRs in the long jump,
110M hurdles and 1,500M run...The 7,871w score stood as the third-best in the
NCAA in 2001...Harris holds the fifth spot on Tennessee's vaunted all-time

PRs in the 110M hurdles, pole vault and high jump at the SECs...Harris attempted
to scrap for more points by also competing in the high jump (4th-tie, 6-9 3/4)
and long jump (13th, 22-2 1/4) at the SECs after the decathlon concluded...Qualified
for and competed in the USA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field. 2001-Indoor- Qualified
for the USA Indoors with a PR 4,033-point pentathlon win at the Virginia Tech
Pentathlon (Feb. 2)...Took ninth (second among collegiates) with a personal-best
5,364 points at the USA Indoor Championships heptathlon in Atlanta, Ga. (March
3)...Versatile even for a decathlete, Harris entered three events at the SEC
Indoors...He took seventh in the high jump (6-9 3/4), 17th in the long jump
(22-2 1/2) and ran the second leg on Tennessee's fourth-place distance
medley relay (9:57.34). 2000-Outdoor- Earned
Most Valuable Freshman Award at team banquet...Harris has proven himself to
be one of the most valuable and versatile members of Tennessee's freshman
class, his All-America honor providing testimonial to the fact...Harris was
tabbed the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Co-Freshman of the Year with Mississippi
State's Pierre Brown...Harris' performance at nationals was the best
finish ever by a freshman in the NCAA decathlon...A decathlete by trade, Harris
has stepped in to help the Vols in everything from the high jump to the 4x400M
relay...Harris staked his claim as the next great Tennessee decathlete by taking
fourth place and an All-America certificate at the NCAA Championships in just
his third career decathlon...At the NCAAs, Harris piled up 7,651 points en route
to fourth place to tie for Tennessee's second-highest scorer for the meet...With
Harris' performance at the NCAA Championships, he broke UT's freshman
decathlon record, previously 7,576 points by Lawrence Johnson in 1993...Between
Harris and teammate Boris Kawohl, half of the nation's top four decathletes
at the NCAAs wore orange and white...At the NCAAs, Harris notched first and
second day PRs along with decathlon PRs in the long jump, 400M dash, 100M hurdles,
javelin, 1,500M run, pole vault and high jump...Harris earned his ticket to
the NCAA Championships via his 7,313-point performance to garner third in the
SEC Championships decathlon (May 12), in just his second time to compete in
the event...In the SEC decathlon, Harris won the high jump and finished third
in a field of 21 in the 400M dash and the 1,500M run...Harris earned his first
provisional mark in his first decathlon, a fourth-place, 7,293-point effort
at the Florida Relays (March 23)...At Florida, Harris won the high jump and
finished second in the 100M dash, 400M dash and the 1,500M run...Harris unselfishly
stepped in when the injury bug bit the Vol 4x400M relay team at the SEC Championships...At
the SECs, Harris ran anchor on the 4x400M relay team that earned fifth place
in 3:07.13, Tennessee's fastest time in the event at that point of the
season...The versatile Harris has found his way onto the Tennessee outdoor season
top four list in five categories (100M dash, 400M dash, high jump, long jump
and decathlon)...Harris won the open high jump at the Sea Ray Relays (April
14) in Knoxville with a PR clearance of 7-1...Scored in three events (high jump-third,
long jump-third and 400M dash-seventh) at the SEC Quad (April 1). 2000 Indoor- Harris earned
fourth with 3,761 points to finish fourth at the Virginia Tech Pentathlon, his
first time competing in the event... Harris won the high jump with a height
of 6-8 in the Virginia Tech Pentathlon...Stood as one of three Tennessee high
scorers with 15 points at the SEC Quad in Lexington, Ky. ...At the SEC Quad,
Harris scored in the long jump (third), high jump (fourth) and the 400M dash
(fifth)...Finished 12th in the high jump by clearing 6-8 and 15th in the long
jump with a 22-9 1/4 leap at the SEC Indoors...Soared 6-11 to take second in
the high jump and leaped 22-7 3/4 to earn third in the long jump at the UT All-Comers
