BLACKSBURG, Va. -- It was a very light night of action for the Tennessee track & field team, as a pair of Vols competed Friday in the 1000-meter run at the Virginia Tech Challenge.
Senior Mike Brodsky posted the No. 12 mark on UT's "Dandy Dozen" all-time performers list, logging a career-best readout of two minutes, 28.90 seconds to place 10th at Rector Field House. Representing the Big Orange for the first time in competition on the oval, redshirt freshman Spenser Tipton of Maryville was 31st in 2:38.32.
On Saturday, Brodsky and Tipton are slated to run the mile, Tom Gilmartin is scheduled to compete in the 5K and vaulters Joe Berry and Robert Rasnick are ticketed for action in the seeded section of the pole vault. They are currently tied for second in the SEC this season with best clearances of 17-0 3/4.
