Pritchett Wins 60 at Virginia Tech Challenge

The Tennessee men???s track and field team scored a victory, four personal-best marks and two additional season-best marks Friday during the first day of the Virginia Tech Challenge in Blacksburg, Va.

???We had a good first day,??? head coach Bill Webb said. ???The lifetime-best marks were positive. We had two guys stumble in the 200 because of our inability to train on a banked track. Our pole vaulters jumped well and they are well-prepared for the conference meet next week. We are looking forward to a good finish on Saturday.???

Team captain Matthieu Pritchett tied his personal-best time of 6.70 seconds while winning the 60-meter dash. The senior???s time is an NCAA provisional-qualifying mark, which gives the Vols 13 marks qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships next month. Sophomore Kyle Stevenson tied his season-best time of 6.86 and just missed a spot in the finals during the preliminaries of the 60. Pritchett clocked in with the second-best time during the preliminaries and senior Blake Jones stopped the clock in 6.98.
