KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The University of Tennessee men's and women's cross country programs have been honored for their work in the classroom. The squads have been cited as United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Teams, the USTFCCCA announced from its headquarters in New Orleans.
For a program to be considered for USTFCCCA All-Academic Team status, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Championship and also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative GPA.
The Lady Vols, who finished third in the NCAA South Regional, posted a combined GPA of 3.39 under the direction of head women's coach J.J. Clark. The Vols, meanwhile, were sixth in the region with men's coach George Watts at the helm and tallied a 3.03 GPA.
