KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - University of Tennessee freshman cross country runner Jake Rainey took a few minutes to visit about his first collegiate race, his upcoming meet at the Commodore Classic on Sept. 18 and his transition from high school to college running.
Rainey led the Vols to a runner-up team finish at the Belmont-VU Opener on Sept. 3, finishing sixth individually out of 89 runners in a time of 15 minutes, 46.48 seconds on the 5,000-meter Vaughn's Creek Course at Nashville's Percy Warner Park.
On Saturday, Rainey will join his teammates in making a return trip to the mid-state, where the Big Orange harriers are slated to run an 8,000-meter race on the same course. Start time is 9 a.m. Central.
