Tennessee cross country runner Chris Bodary was named SEC Freshman of the Week for the week of Sept. 28-Oct.4, the league office announced Tuesday. A native of Downington, Pa., Bodary finished 38th overall and second among UT runners at the 8K Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic on Saturday.

His time of 24:52.84 was a personal-best and a 70-second improvement over his previous top time in an 8K race. It is also the 15th-fastest 8K time run in the Southeastern Conference this season.

Bodary has run in all three races for Tennessee this season and finished among the scorers twice. He will be among the Vols running at the ISU Pre-Nationals on Oct. 18.
