KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- A 23-0 run early in the first half sealed the deal as No. 20 Tennessee routed Division II Coker, 118-44 on Sunday afternoon before 10,137 at Thompson-Boling Arena.
The Lady Vols finished their preseason exhibitions with two wins by a combined score of 222-88. The Holly Warlick era officially gets underway on Friday night as Tennessee travels to Chattanooga for the opener of the 2012-13 season.
Sophomore Isabelle Harrison netted 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting and snagged nine boards. Sophomore Cierra Burdick (16), senior Kamiko Williams (14) and senior Taber Spani (10) also scored in double-figures.
The defense was sensational on Sunday as Tennessee forced Coker into 31 turnovers and limited them to 26.7 shooting from the floor.
The most telling statistic was points off turnovers: Tennessee 51, Coker 5.
The taller Lady Vols also outscored Coker on points in the paint, 84-4.
The second half was total domination for Tennessee as the Lady Vols outscored Coker 58-14. Tennessee's shooting picked up in the final 20 minutes as UT shot 69.2. The defense continued to stifle the Cobras as they shot just 16.7 from the floor.
A 14-0 run put Tennessee over the 100-point plateau for the second game in a row as Burdick's lay-up with 7:28 left broke the century mark, putting UT up 101-36.
Tennessee doubled Coker, 60-30, in the first half as Graves led all scorers with 12 while Simmons added 10. The Lady Vols shot 53 percent in the first half.
After falling behind for the first and only time in two preseason exhibitions games, the Lady Vols reeled off 23 consecutive points with agressive defense and sharp shooting to take a 30-8 lead with 10 minutes left in the first half. Graves had eight points in the spurt.
Tennessee trailed for the first time in its two exhibition games briefly at 8-7 on 3-pointer by Amber Lau, less than three minutes into the action.
That lead lasted nine seconds before Graves' layup but the Lady Vols ahead 9-8 with 17 minutes left in the first half. That bucket started that 23-0 run for the Lady Vols as they pulled away.
