KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Lady Vols have been gearing up for the NCAA Tournament following their 66-62 loss to Texas A&M in the SEC Tournament semifinals on March 9.
For the team that had expectations for itself at the beginning of the season when not many outsiders did, No. 10/9 Tennessee claimed the SEC regular-season title, posted a 24-7 record and will host first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament on March 23 and 25 at Thompson-Boling Arena.
"When we talked in August, we hadn't even seen them on the court," head coach Holly Warlick said. "They looked good on paper, but we hadn't seen them all together. They've really gelled and gotten better. The freshmen stepped up, the sophomores have been great leaders, our seniors have been great leaders. It's kind of all come together in a positive way for us. We're looking forward to the first and second rounds."
"I think we'll probably be a No. 3 seed, which is fine. I'm good with that."
UT will wait until Monday when the NCAA bracket is announced on ESPN from 7 to 8 p.m. Eastern to see its path in postseason play. The Lady Vols will face an undetermined opponent on March 23 at either 11 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. The winning teams from the March 23 games will advance to play in an NCAA Second Round contest on Monday, March 25, at 7 p.m.
All-session tickets to the NCAA First and Second Rounds in Knoxville include a ticket for all three games. First Session tickets include both First Round games on March 23, while Second Session tickets are for the Second Round game on March 25. Single-game tickets also are available for either day.
Tickets are available for purchase online at UTTix.com or by calling the Tennessee Ticket Office at 865-656-1200 or 800-332-8657. Tickets also may be purchased in person at the Tennessee Ticket Office, located in the northwest corner of Thompson-Boling Arena directly off Phillip Fulmer Way.
