- Tennessee is making its 25th appearance in the Elite Eight, advancing with a 84-73 win over Kansas in the Sweet Sixteen. UT is 18-6 all-time in Elite Eight games.
- Tennessee has advanced to the Final Four from the state of Iowa three times: 1986 (def. Louisiana State, 67-65, in Iowa City), 2002 (def. Vanderbilt, 68-63, in Ames) and the Cinderella Season, 1997 (def. undefeated Connecticut 91-81 in Iowa City).
- Coming back from a halftime deficit against Kansas to win in the Sweet Sixteen, Tennessee emerged victorious after trailing at the break for the first time this season. Tennessee has compiled a 24-1 record when leading at the break and a 1-6 mark when trailing at the half.
- While coaching the U.S. women at the 1984 Olympics, Pat Summitt's point guards were Lea Henry of Tennessee and Louisiana Tech's Kim Mulkey. That squad became the first women's hoops team to bring home Olympic gold.
