KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tulsa Shock forward Glory Johnson has been named the WNBA's Western Conference Player of the Week for games played June 17 through June 23.
The former Lady Vol standout recorded two double-doubles last week, averaging 17.3 points and a Western Conference-best 10.0 rebounds as the Shock recorded a 2-1 mark. The second-year player scored 14 points and 12 boards as Tulsa defeated Seattle, 92-70, on June 22. Johnson capped the week with a game-high 24 points and eight rebounds in an 88-79 loss at conference-leading Minnesota on June 23. Johnson has scored in double figures in each of the Shock's 11 games this season.
The Player of the Week award is the first of Johnson's career and the first by a Shock player since the franchise began play in Tulsa in 2010.
This is the second Player of the Week award for a former Lady Vol this season as L.A. Sparks' Candace Parker picked up the honor on June 2.
