July 15, 2013

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Sixty-one first-year Tennessee student-athletes, including two Lady Vol basketball players, were named to the 2012-13 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll on Monday by SEC Commissioner Mike Slive.

The SEC recognized 762 first-year student-athletes among the league's 14 schools. A total of 3,116 student-athletes around the league earned Academic Honor Roll recognition in 2012-13.

UT women's hoops rookies Andraya Carter (Flowery Branch, Ga./Buford H.S.) and Bashaara Graves (Clarksville, Tenn./Clarksville H.S.) were among those cited for their work in the classroom.

Each student-athlete must 1) have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship or a letter winner; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.

The 2012-13 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2012-13 academic calendar.
