KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- ESPN2's Big Monday presented by Bud Light schedule, which showcases the best NCAA Division I women's basketball programs in the nation, will include a marquee match-up at Thompson-Boling Arena in 2013.
Tennessee, under the direction of first-year head coach Holly Warlick, will play host to Notre Dame at 7 p.m. Eastern time on Jan. 28 in the second installment of the seven-week schedule. In addition to being televised on ESPN2, all games will be available through WatchESPN, accessible online at WatchESPN.com and through smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.
The contest marks the 23rd time these squads have met. The Lady Vols possess a 20-2 advantage in the all-time series and are 8-0 vs. the Fighting Irish in Knoxville. Notre Dame, however, has won the past two meetings, including a 72-44 win in South Bend on Jan. 23, 2012, en route to finishing its season with a 35-4 record after losing in the semifinal round to eventual champion Baylor at the NCAA Women's Final Four. Tennessee, meanwhile, fell to Baylor in the Des Moines Regional Final and finished the campaign with a 27-9 season mark.
All 13 teams in the Big Monday schedule are 2012 NCAA Championship participants. Twelve teams are ranked in an early preseason poll by ESPN.com columnist Charlie Creme, including No. 8 Notre Dame and No. 21 Tennessee.
The remainder of the UT women's schedule will be released after the Southeastern Conference finalizes the league slate. Once television contracts are finalized, start times and TV information will be added at a later date.
