Oct. 7, 2012

Tulsa Shock forward and former Lady Vol standout Glory Johnson headlines the 2012 WNBA All-Rookie Team, the league announced Sunday.

Nneka Ogwumike (Los Angeles Sparks), Tiffany Hayes (Atlanta Dream), Samantha Prahalis (Phoenix Mercury) and Riquna Williams (Tulsa Shock) join Johnson in the WNBA's group of elite first-year players.

The voting panel consisted of the WNBA's 12 head coaches, each of whom voted for five players regardless of position. Coaches were not permitted to vote for players on their own team. Johnson and Ogwumike each received 11 votes, Hayes and Prahalis each garnered nine, and Williams tallied eight.

As the fourth overall selection in the 2012 WNBA Draft and former SEC Tournament MVP (2012), Johnson played in all 34 games and started 28 for the Shock. She led rookies in steals (2.15 per game), ranked second in rebounds (6. 8 per game) and third in scoring (11.5 points per game). The Tennessee alumna scored a career-high 30 points on July 12 in a 74-89 loss at Minnesota. In the same game, she also contributed 14 rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

Johnson was also runner-up for this season's WNBA Rookie of the Year award.
