Chris Griffin is joining the Tennessee women's golf team on Rocky Top after spending four seasons with the Murray State women's golf program as assistant coach.

Prior to joining the Racers' program, Griffin enjoyed a stellar career with the Murray State men's golf program where he competed from 2006-10.

During Griffin's time as a Murray State assistant, the Racers won the 2013-14 Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) championship and participated in the NCAA East Regional in Tallahassee, Fla. Griffin was also responsible for coaching the 2014 OVC Player of the Year, Delaney Howson.

Griffin graduated from Murray State with a degree in business administration and finished his MBA at MSU in 2010.

Griffin also served as the assistant manager at the Miller Memorial Golf Course, the home course of Murray State.

With an outstanding amateur resume, Griffin is an accomplished player and still regularly competes. He recently finished ninth in the Kentucky State Amateur tournament.

As a collegiate player, Griffin competed in 108 career rounds over four seasons for the Racers and was part of MSU's 2010 OVC Championship, the first for the program since 1991. Griffin was named All-OVC his senior season and to the All-OVC Tournament Team.

Griffin has qualified and competed in the Kentucky State Amateur ten times. In 2012 he won the title at the Harrahs Rolling Hills Invitational and placed second at the Irvin Cobb Championship, both held in Paducah, Ky. He has finished runner-up three times (2008, 2010, 2012) with all coming in playoffs at the Texas Roadhouse West Kentucky Open in Ledbetter, Ky. He won the West Kentucky Amateur in 2006 and in 2008 won both the Ken-Ten Championship and Benton Invitational.
