Erika Brennan, a former Certified Instructor for the David Leadbetter Golf Academy, has been named the new women's golf assistant coach.

The 2006 graduate of Western Carolina University comes to UT after serving as the head coach of the Saint Leo women's golf program the past five seasons.

"I'm really excited about Erika joining our staff at Tennessee," head coach Judi Pavon said. "She has a very solid golf background and will bring new energy and ideas to our program. She is a go getter and will be instrumental in helping us reach our goals."

Under Brennan's tutelage at Saint Leo, the Lions entered the national spotlight as the team made its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2010. Brennan helped Saint Leo see itself consistently ranked in the national poll, and finished the 2012-13 season ranked 21st in the country. In the fall of 2012, the squad set numerous records, including the low single round team score (291) and low 36-hole tournament score (592) which they carded at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate. Brennan led the Lions to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.

"I am thrilled to become a part of the Tennessee Vol family," Brennan said. "Coach Pavon's vision for the program is an exciting one, and I am eager to learn from a coach who is so well respected in the collegiate game. My time at Saint Leo was incredible, and I will never forget the girls that I got to coach; they have taught me countless things that I hope to execute at this next level. I plan to work relentlessly to help Coach Pavon continue to make Tennessee Golf one of the best programs in the country. Our family looks forward to relocating to Knoxville and we plan to hit the ground running."

Before becoming the head coach at Saint Leo, Brennan served as the Operations Intern for the American Junior Golf Association and was a certified instructor for the David Leadbetter Golf Academy.

As a player at Western Carolina, Brennan finished her career ranked in the top-20 in the Southern Conference and sits ninth all-time at WCU in scoring average. Brennan was named the Catamount's Female Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2005 for her academic efforts, which included being named to the WCU Honors College and serving as the vice president of the Western Carolina Student-Athlete Advisory Council and a member of the Southern Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Council.

Brennan was married in April 2009 to her husband Brian, who is an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Saint Leo University. The couple welcomed their first child, Blakely Louise, into the world in June of 2012.
