Tennessee has signed Ashlee Pickerell to UT's class of 2016.
"I am so pleased that Ashlee has signed with Tennessee," coach Judi Pavon said. "She committed to our program over a year and a half ago, so we have looked forward to signing day for quite some time. Ashlee has a ton of great tournament experience, is a great student and has a very bubbly personality. She will be a great fit for our program and I expect her to have a great career at Tennessee."
The Salem, Ore., native earned three varsity letters for West Salem High School and was a three-time all-state honoree and three-time conference player of the year. She recorded a runner-up finish for the state Oregon in 2011 after finishing sixth in 2010 and third in 2009.
She collected 18 medalist finishes over the course of her three-year varsity career, notching a low round of 6-under 66 at the district league match. She was a three-time district champion of the CVC League, winning the league title in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and helping West Salem to the district championship title in 2010. Those district championships earned her CVC League Player of the Year laurels in each of the last three seasons.
Pickerell has competed in three US Girls Junior Championships and five Callaway Junior World Championships. Additionally she played in the Safeway Classic, an LPGA event, earning a spot by winning the Safeway Classic Amateur Open. She carded six birdies in the event.
Pickerell will again be a teammate of current Lady Vol Chessey Thomas, of Spokane, Wash. The two previously played together on the North Pacific Ladies Team.
"For me [coming to Tennessee] was a no-brainer," said Pickerell. "They have an amazing golf program and facilities as well as great coaches. The sense of family and community at Tennessee is overwhelming and was impossible for me to pass up!"
