BATON ROUGE, La. - Sophomore Erica Popson carded her nation-leading fifth eagle of the season and fired a final-round 1-under-par 71 to lead the 16th-ranked Tennessee Lady Vol golf team to a tied-for-third team result at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic on Sunday.

The Big Orange carded a 10-over 299 on the final day at the par-72, 6,186-yard University Club course. UT's three-day total of 305-297-298=900 (+36) placed it in a tie with No. 1 Alabama and No. 4 Duke.

Arkansas grabbed the team title after carding the only below par round of the tournament on Sunday, a 1-under 287, en route to an 888 (+24) total. No. 7 Virginia finished second at 895 (+31).

Duke's Lindy Duncan captured the individual title on the third hole of a playoff with Louisville's AnnaKarin Ljungstrom after both players scored 2-over 218 through 54 holes.

"This was a good tournament for the team," Lady Vol head coach Judi Pavon said. "Erica had a solid tournament. She hit the ball well and made some key putts. Sara (Monberg) had a very good weekend. I am proud of Sara because she could have gotten down on herself a few times, but instead made birdies. It was good to have Chessey (Thomas) back in the lineup and she had a very good tournament. Kaitlyn (Rohrback) had a good second round and Nathalie (Mansson) played well the first day. This is a very young team and they competed well with some of the best teams in the country."

Popson nabbed the eagle on her second hole of the day, the par-5, 478-yard No. 6 and carded a birdie on her final hole to record her sixth par-or-better round of the season and 16th of her career, which is already the ninth most all-time in Tennessee history. She carded a 77-74-71=222 (+6) total to tie for seventh.

Sophomore Sara Monberg tied for 11th with a 76-74-73=223 (+7) score. She had five birdies on Sunday and led the tournament with 11 birdies over the course of the weekend.

Freshman Chessey Thomas placed in a tie for 26th with a 78-74-75=227 (+11) total.

Freshman Kaitlyn Rohrback and junior Nathalie Mansson both carded final-round 79s. Rohrback's 81-75-79=235 (+19) tied her for 57th, while Mansson tied for 61st with a 74-83-79=236 (+20) score.

Tennessee returns to action from March 25-27 at the Bryan National Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C. This will be the Lady Vols' 11 consecutive season competing at the Wake Forest-hosted tournament.
