BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. - The 14th-ranked Tennessee Lady Vol golf team finds itself one shot behind Wake Forest on the leader board after Saturday's second round with 18 holes remaining at the Bryan National Collegiate.

The Lady Vols shot a 14-over par 302 on Saturday at the Bryan Park Golf and Enrichment Center. The 17th-ranked Demon Deacons 294-295=589 (+13) are in first, followed by the Big Orange in second 288-302=590 (+14), while No. 4 Duke and No. 7 Virginia each have totals of 594 (+18). Rounding out the top five with a 295-302=597 (+21) is No. 22 North Carolina.

Freshman Kaitlyn Rohrback fired the team's best round with a two-over 74. The Crofton, Md., native is tied for fifth in the field with an 72-74=146, just three strokes behind the leader in Laetitia Beck of Duke. After shooting even par on day one, Rohrback rebounded from a two-over on the front nine to shoot par on the back, including a birdie on hole No. 12.

One shot behind Rohrback in the standings is sophomore Erica Popson, who carded a 36-hole total of 70-77=147. Popson is currently tied for eighth and has recorded four birdies through two rounds of the tournament.

Sara Monberg, a sophomore, had UT's second-best round on the day, shooting a 75 to bring her overall total to 74-75=149. After a double-bogey on the first hole, she responded with back-to-back birdies on holes three and four and also registered a birdie on hole No. 17, as her tally ties for 19th.

Junior Nathalie Mansson finished round two with a 4-over 76. Shooting even par on the front nine, she is tied for 13th with a score of 72-76=148. Freshman Chessey Thomas sits tied for 55th after a two-round total of 76-81=157.

"It was very cold here and a tough day today," Lady Vol head coach Judi Pavon said. "We had a pretty good round going until the last three or four holes, where we got careless and let some shots get away. After not a very good day, we are lucky to still be so close to the lead."

"Tomorrow is forecasted to be another tough day, so we are going to get prepared tonight to be a little mentally stronger tomorrow. Kaitlyn (Rohrback) had a terrific day today and is in great shape for the tournament overall."

This is the 11th straight season Tennessee has competed at the Bryan National. Last season, the Lady Vols tied for sixth as Mansson placed second individually.

Tennessee's best finish at the tournament came in 2005, when it captured runner-up honors.
