Head Coach Judi Pavon's golf squad improved to eighth place on the second day of the Liz Murphey Collegiate on the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga., as the Big Orange posted a two-day 605 (304-301). Ohio State continues to lead the field after firing an amazing 283 second round to post a total of 574 (291-283), while the hosting Georgia Bulldogs are in second with a 580 (292-288). Duke's Brittany Lang (66-73) and Ohio State's Lindsay Knowlton (69-70) are tied for the individual lead with a pair of 139s.
As for the orange-clads, sophomores Violeta Retamoza (Aguascalientes, Mexico) and Golda Johansson (Lund, Sweden) and junior Teesha Ash (Chattanooga, Tenn.), playing as an individual, notched a trio of 151 totals to tie for 29th place, while junior Jessica Shepley (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) is tied for 39th place with a 152 (75-77). Freshman Holly Cantwell (Morristown, Tenn.) and senior Mary Jan Fernandez (Henderson, Nev.) rounded out the UT effort with 156 totals to tie for 60th place. Additionally, Fernandez paced Tennessee during the second round with a one-over 73.
Next up, the Lady Vols conclude the tournament on Sunday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. ET.
