Popson Leads UT at Bryan National Collegiate

March 30, 2013

Round Two Results

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Senior Erica Popson carded an even-par 72 in the second round to lead the Lady Vols at the Bryan National Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C.

Popson is currently in a tie for 12th, moving up 12 spots from the first day for a two-round total of 2-over par 146.

Tennessee sits in 15th heading into Sunday's final round with a 610 (+34) card.

"It was a disappointing day out there in really nice conditions," head coach Judi Pavon said. "We are in a bit of a funk right now, and making some uncharacteristic mistakes that are leading to high scores."

Sophomore Daeun Song follows Popson in a tie for 47th after shooting 5-over 77 Saturday. Sophomore AJ Newell is in a tie for 71st with a two-day card of 156 (+12) and senior Sara Monberg rounds out UT's counted scores, shooting a 77 (+5) in the second round. Junior Chessey Thomas finished the day with a 79 (+7) and sits in a tie for 75th.

"We are expecting a rainy day tomorrow so we are trying to re-group and post a good number so we can make up some ground tomorrow and post a decent finish," Pavon said.
