BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Tennessee women's golf team sits in a tie for 10th place after second play at the 2014 SEC Championship. The Lady Vols took 21 strokes off of their first round score on day two.

Tennessee, who shot a 314 on a rainy first round of play, rallied for a team total of 293 on Saturday, the second lowest team score of the day.

Senior Chessey Thomas led the lady Vols for the second straight day, finishing the day with a 74 (+2) for the second straight day. With her day two score, Thomas jumped from 14th place to a tie for fifth place on the leaderboard.

"Today went pretty well," said Thomas. "My putting wasn't spectacular but everything else went fine for me. Looking to improve even more tomorrow."

Freshman Hannah Pietila took five shots off of her first round 78 (+6) and tallied a 73 (+1) in round two moving up to 24th place in the standings while her classmate Lucia Polo carded a round of 74 (+2), like Thomas, seven shots off of her first round score, good for a tie for 46th place.

Junior Mason Chen notched a 76 (+4) on the day and now sits in a tie for 55th place while fellow junior Daeun Song rounded out the lineup with a 75 (+3) on the day, knocking eight strokes off of her day one total. She currently is in a tie for 59th place on the leaderboard.
