Also of note, Florida's Jeanne Cho moved into a third-place tie with the fourth-lowest round in event history with a 4-under 68.
"Jessica played well today." Head Coach Judi Pavon said. "I'm proud of her performance and it's great to know that we can count on her to score everyday."
Individually, team captain Jessica Shepley (Oakville, Ontario) paced the team
with an even-par 72, which is her fifth career par-or-under round and ties her
for seventh-place in program history. Shepley pushed her two-day total to 150
and moved into an 11th-place tie with Northwestern's Ina Kim. Freshman Golda
Johansson (Lund, Sweden) fired a 6-over 79 to accumulate a second-day,
20th-place tying 153. Junior Mary Jan Fernandez (Henderson, Nev.) carded a
5-over 77 to improve her two-day total to 160 for a tie for 45th-place, while
Tai Perry (Unionville, Pa.) recorded an 8-over 80 in the second day of
competition. Ryan Kirk (Hixson, Tenn.) rounded out UT scoring with a 9-over
81 for a two-day 165 66th-place tying total.
"I'm happy that I played well today." Shepley said. "I played a lot better than yesterday and minimized my mistakes as well as kept the ball in play." The Lady Vol golf squad closes out the sixth-annual Mercedes-Benz Women's Collegiate Championships on Sunday with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
