SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Tennessee women's golf team had a case of the Mondays at Briggs Ranch Golf Course. On the second day of The Alamo Invitational, the Lady Vols struggled to build much of an attack. The ladies fell down the leaderboard ladder into 14th place after finishing the second round with a 304 (+16).

After nine holes of play, three Lady Vols were at even par with optimism of an under par finish. However, the back nine managed to shake the rhythm of the Big Orange. At the conclusion of the second round, the Tennessee team had accumulated five double bogeys and only eight birdies.

The Alamo was rather unkind to Tennessee after such an encouraging first round on Sunday that saw the Lady Vols finish 2-over par and tied for tenth place with Louisville and Tulane.

The best rounds of the day came from senior Chessey Thomas and sophomore Emmie Pietila. Currently, both golfers have carded identical scores of 73-75--148 (+4) and sit tied for 43rd place heading into the final round. Thomas finished with one birdie and four bogeys while Pietila registered two birdies and five bogeys. Pietila is competing as an individual for the Lady Volunteers.

Two other Lady Vols are also tied for 43rd place after Monday's second round. Junior AJ Newell and freshman Lucia Polo led the Big Orange with a first round 72 (E). However, both were unable to find a groove on Monday as they each carded a 76 (+4).

Freshmen Hannah Pietila and Teleri Hughes rounded out the rest of the Tennessee lineup. Hannah Pietila shot a two round total of 73-77--150 (+6) and tied for 59th meanwhile Hughes carded rounds of 76-80--156 (+12) and sits in 76th place.

Tennessee will conclude its stay in San Antonio, Texas, and its fall season when tee times get underway at 8:45 a.m. CT on Tuesday.
