KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee women's golf team has announced the addition of Mason Chen and Daeun Song to the squad, beginning January 2013.

Chen joins UT after helping the Redlands Community College Cougars to the 2012 Junior College National Team Championship title, finishing in a tie for 14th individually.

"Mason is a very solid player with a good swing and good golf background," head coach Judi Pavon said. "I am so excited about her coming to be a part of our program. She will be a huge addition and I expect her to contribute."

Chen recorded six top-25 finishes, including one top five finish throughout the 2011-12 season with the Cougars.

Song comes to Tennessee after spending one year at Mesa Community College. Song recently competed in the Arizona Women's Open (77-72-79=228), tying for 50th. She also placed fourth (77-74-70=221) at the 2012 AWGA State Amateur Stroke Play Championship last August.

"Daeun is a very strong player with a very solid game," Pavon said. "She has some great golf experience having played in Korea right after high school. She is also a strong student and very mature. I'm excited to learn more about her and her game as the spring goes on."

Song also participated in the 2012 U.S. Women's Open and U.S. Women's Amateur qualifying rounds.

The Lady Vols return to action Feb. 15-17 when they travel to Tallahassee, Fla., for the Mash Up Invitational.
