KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Lady Vol freshman golfer Leigh Henderson carded her first-ever hole-in-one during practice on Wednesday at Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn.
The Knoxville native holed in with a 7 iron on the 145-yard, 14th hole on a sunny, but chilly day.
It's a great highlight to kick off the New Year for the Tennessee women's golf team, which just started practicing again in preparation for the spring season.
Henderson has played in one tournament this season, the Tennessee-hosted Mercedes Benz Women's Collegiate Championships, where she tied for 52nd with a score of 77-79-74=230 (+14) on the Fox Den Country Club course.
A graduate of the Webb School in Knoxville, Henderson captured Knoxville News Sentinel Player of the Year honors in 2009.
The Lady Vols, ranked No. 7 in the country by Golfstat, will take a two-tournament win streak to Tucson, Ariz., when they return to action from Feb. 22-23 at the Arizona Wildcat.
