On Monday, rising sophomore Hannah Pietila qualified to play in the 2014 U.S. Women's Open. Pietila won the qualifying event at Indian Hill Club in Winnetka, Ill. She carded a 36-hole total of 146 (+4) that included a final round 71 (E).
"I played pretty good yesterday," Pietila said. "My mom was my caddie so it was fun and relaxed the whole time. I am excited to play in the U.S. Open. It will give me a good idea of what I need to work on for when I get to that level. It will be good experience."
Pietila will not be the only Lady Volunteer representative at the U.S. Women's Open. Former Lady Vol great Erica Popson also qualified for the tournament after advancing at the Dunwoody Country Club in Atlanta, Ga.
