ALL-AMERICA HONOREES
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee Lady Vol golfer Erica Popson captured Golfweek third team All-America honors the publication announced Monday.
The Davenport, Fla., native led UT in scoring average for the second straight season and tallied a dozen rounds of par or better in her junior season.
Overall, Tennessee has now nabbed 22 total individual All-America awards.
Sidelined with injury, Popson's season got off to a difficult start in the fall as she withdrew from two of Tennessee's first four events. After surgery the Lady Vol standout returned, though, tying for first place and helping UT to a team victory at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic.
In addition to her All-America recognition, Popson earned a spot on the United States Curtis Cup as announced by the USGA in January; she competed for the U.S. in Scotland June 8-10.
She was named the Southeastern Conference Golfer of the Week on March 14 and helped the Orange and White to Golfweek National Team of the Week honors (April 12) with a T3 placement at the Bryan National Intercollegiate.
Popson will return to Rocky Top in the fall for her senior campaign as four of five players return from a UT team that won two spring tournaments and capped off the season with their best mark of the year - a two-under 286.
