KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Head women's golf coach Judi Pavon announced Knoxville, Tenn., native Leigh Henderson will join the Lady Vols this fall on Monday.
Henderson will be the third newcomer on the 2009-10 UT women's golf team, joining Erica Popson, of Davenport, Fla., and Sara Monberg, of Denmark.
While competing for the Webb School in Knoxville, Henderson was runner-up at the Division II Class AA Tennessee state tournament in 2007 and placed third at the 2008 state tournament this past October.
She fired a two-day total of 72-76=148 (+4) at the Old Fort Course in Murfeesboro, Tenn., during the 2008 state tournament -- a year after scoring 73-74=147 (+3) on the same course.
Henderson also finished sixth at the state tournament as a sophomore in 2006.
This past season she was named the News Sentinel's PrepXtra girls golfer of the year and was ho the newspaper's girls golf first team for the third consecutive year.
Additionally, Henderson competed at the 2007 and 2008 USGA Junior Amateur Championships
