MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Lady Vols Ginny Brown, Lauren Spurlock and Leigh Henderson advanced to the match play Championship Flight of the 2009 Tennessee Women's Amateur Championship on Tuesday at the Memphis Country Club.
All three will play a first round match on Wednesday morning.
Spurlock, a rising junior, led the Big Orange trio by tying for second during the 18-hole stroke play qualifier with a 2-over 74. The Memphis native had two birdies and 12 pars en route to earning the No. 3 seed in the Championship Flight. She will play 30th-seed Rhonda Nadasdi in round one at 9:36 a.m.
Brown, a rising senior, tied for fourth - just one stroke behind her teammate - with a 3-over 75. The Austin, Texas, native had two birdies and 11 pars. She earned the sixth-seed and will play No. 27 Paula Bell at 9:52 a.m.
Henderson, an incoming freshman out of the Webb School in Knoxville, fired a 9-over 81 to tie for 22nd in the qualifying round, but easily made the top-32 cut for the Championship Flight. She earned the No. 26 seed and will face seventh-seed Alyssa Randolph at 9:20 a.m.
Brooke Pancake, a rising sophomore at Alabama, earned the top seed in the match play portion of the championship, firing a 1-over 73.
Round two of the Championship Flight will be played on Thursday, while the quarterfinals and semifinals will both be played on Friday. The finals are scheduled for Saturday.
