Two current and one future Lady Vols golfers competed this week in events across the nation.
Junior Chessey Thomas won the Pacific Northwest Women's Amateur Championship in 33 holes Friday, defeating Amanda Baker.
Incoming freshman Emmie Pietila took fifth place in the stroke-play portion at the 96th Michigan Women's Amateur Championship with a two-round score of 150 (74-76).
Pietila also defended her 2011 Amateur Championship, defeating Natalie Brehm in East Lansing, Mich. Although not initially planning on playing the tournament, the 18-year-old Pietila won back-to-back GAM titles Friday.
Senior Erica Popson missed the cut in the stroke-play competition at the 110th Women's North & South Amateur at Pinehurst, finishing tied for 38th at 9-over 225 (75-76-74).
Former Lady Vol Nicole Smith shot a 67 in the Symetra Tour on Friday to take the lead in the Northeast Delta Dental International in New Hampshire.
