LOUDON, Tenn. -- Rising senior Ginny Brown's run at the TRANS Amateur Championship ended in the round of 16 on Thursday at the Tennessee National Golf Course.

Brown, the 21st-seed, defeated No. 12-seed Tiffany Phelps, 1-up, in the round of 32 on Thursday morning.

In the afternoon, the Austin, Texas, native fell to No. 28-seed Sara Ovadia, 5 and 4.

She won her first round match, 3 and 2, on Wednesday and tied for 19th during the qualifying portion of the tournament with a 78-73=151 (+7) on the par-72 Greg Norman-designed course.

Brown helped carry the 2008-09 Lady Vol golf team to the NCAA Championships this past season. She tied for sixth at the SEC Championship and 23rd at the NCAA East Regional before leading UT with a tied for 16th place finish at the national tournament in Owings Mills, Md., in May.

This is the 79th TRANS Amateur Championship. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played on Friday with the finals decided on Saturday.

More than half of the fifty U.S. states are represented as well as international players from Australia, Canada, Philippines and Singapore.
