The Tennessee women's golf team enters the 2012-13 season ranked 13th in Golf World/NGCA Division I College Women's Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Lady Vols, receiving 272 points, are one of 10 SEC teams in the top 25. UT has been ranked in the top 25 preseason poll for seven consecutive seasons.
UT returns four players from their postseason lineup that wrapped up the 2011-12 campaign with a 19th-place finish at the NCAA Championship under Judi Pavon, who is entering her 13th season at the helm of the program.
Among Tennessee's returnees are All-American senior Erica Popson and Sara Monberg, junior Chessey Thomas and sophomore AJ Newell. The Big Orange welcomes two newcomers in Ashlee Pickerell and Emmie Pietila.
Tennessee opens the 2012-13 campaign on Sept. 9-11 in Charleston, S.C., at the highly competitive Cougar Classic. The tournament features 10 of the top 15 teams from the 2012 NCAA Championship, including each of the top five finishers.
