Tennessee women's golf senior Chessey Thomas finished the second stage of the LPGA's Q-School on Friday. The Spokane, Wash., native graciously agreed to update Lady Vol fans on her week in Venice, Fla., through a daily blog.
After four rounds, Chessey battled hard and emerged victorious. Victory in the form of surviving and advancing to Stage III of qualifying school.

Well I am back in Knoxville and have officially qualified for the final stage of LPGA Q-school!
It was a close one. The top 80 and ties advance to Stage 3 and I was tied for 81st with only one score not yet posted so I wasn't holding out much hope. But low and behold, after what seemed like forever my phone lit up with a text from my teammate AJ letting me know that with all the scores in I'd moved into a tie for 80th and had qualified! I finally felt like I could breathe again.
I would have been pleased with my week even if I hadn't made it. I wasn't hitting the ball my best the first three days but I was able to scramble my way around and give myself a chance the last day if I put down a decent score.
My mom told me the night before what she always tells me - that she loves me and that she believes in me. That's all I needed to hear.
Paul was an awesome caddie! He saved me shots every round with his local course knowledge. With him on the bag it seemed as though every club member there was cheering for us!
I've received a lot of nice messages and phone calls over the past week and I am so thankful to have such wonderful support from so many people.
Most importantly, though: Good luck to my team this week in Austin at the Betsy Rawls! I'm sure I will be a nervous wreck checking Golfstat and Birdie Fire throughout their rounds to track how they're doing. I hope you all follow along too!
God Bless and Go Vols! Chessey
