KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee women's golf team will close its fall campaign this weekend when it travels to San Antonio, Texas for The Alamo Invitational. The three-day tournament, held at Briggs Ranch Golf Club, beings Sunday morning.

The Lady Vols head into the tournament ranked 21 in the latest Golfstat and Golfweek polls. UT joins three other ranked teams in the Top 25 polls, including No. 3/9 Oklahoma, No. 23/25 Texas A&M and No. 29/20 Baylor. Also competing this weekend is Colorado, East Carolina, Kentucky, LSU, Louisville, Nebraska, North Texas, SMU, Texas State, Tulane and host UTSA.

Action begins Sunday morning with at 11 a.m. as the Lady Vols pair up with UTSA and Tulane from the first tee. The first two days will be determined by tee times, with Tuesday's final round featuring a shotgun start.

LAST TIME OUT

UT is coming off a second-place finish at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships, which was held Oct. 12-14 at Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Lady Vols faced Texas A&M, UTSA and East Carolina in the tournament, who are competing this weekend.

STACKING UP

Senior Erica Popson finished in a tie for fourth at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships, garnering her second top-5 finish through three tournaments this season. The Davenport, Fla., native holds a team-best 71.89 stroke average this fall. Popson is ranked 20th in Golfweek and 18th in Golfstat polls.

Junior Chessey Thomas posted her best individual finish of her Tennessee career at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships, when she came in a tie for 11th, while senior Sara Monberg recorded her highest finish this season at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships when she placed in a tie for 21st. She shot a final-round 1-under par 71.

Sophomore AJ Newell also garnered her top showing of the season at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships, as she finished in a tie for 20th. Freshman Ashlee Pickerell came in a tie for 78th, while carding her lowest round of the season with a 5-over par 77 in the second round.
