Smith Awarded LPGA Kia Power Drive
Smith with her Power Drive Award

Smith with her Power Drive Award

Nov. 21, 2013

On Wednesday, former Lady Vol golfer Nicole Smith was presented with the 2013 Kia Power Drive Award. The Power Drive is given to the LPGA player with the longest average driving distance during the year.

Smith won the Kia Power Drive Award with a driving average distance of 274.9 yards. Smith's average drive was a full four yards greater than her closest competitor, Lexi Thompson.

Last year, the Power Drive Award went to Brittany Lincicome. The Floridian averaged 275.2 yards per drive, nearly five yards more than the closest competitor.

"It's cool that Nicole received the Kia Power Drive Award as an LPGA tour player," Tennessee head coach Judi Pavon said. "I remember recruiting her and after one shot I knew I wanted her! She is a super long hitter and is really fun to watch. I'm proud of her."

The Power Drive Award is part of the 2013 LPGA Kia Performance Awards. The awards are given to recognize outstanding LPGA players for their accomplishments in statistical, performance and community categories.
