KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Swedish golfer Nathalie Mansson will play for the University of Tennessee beginning next season, as announced today by Head Golf Coach Judi Pavon. Mansson hails from Stockholm, Sweden, where she attended Farsta H.S.
“We are thrilled to have Nathalie join the team next fall,” Pavon said. “She will bring a lot of experience in team competition to our program. She is a current member of the Swedish Junior National Team and has represented Sweden in many international events.
“She has a very solid game and a strong short game. We expect her to make an immediate impact. Not only is she a great player, but she is a great person and will represent Tennessee well.”
Mansson was a member of the 2007 PING Junior Solheim Cup European Team which defeated the Americans, 14-10, in September of this year. On the first day of competition, Mansson was the hero by carding birdies on holes 17 and 18 to secure Europe’s 7-5 lead. The tournament featured Europe’s top-12 players against the best 12 from the United States.
Mansson also helped Sweden to victory in the European Girls’ Team Championships in July by winning two of three rounds in matchplay.
The Lady Vol golf team is in its winter training session right now, but will be back on the links on Feb. 24, for the Puerto Rico Invitational, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
